well folks! time for the first official real actual blog post on Violet: Queen of Catgirls' blog.

I have done LOTS of gaming in the past 24 hours! Yesterday bestie slept over and we played nearly all of Gunstar Heroes. I have very little experience with run'n'guns but it seems to be a good place to start for sure. We unfortunately all but finished it, ending on the final level being incompleted. However we do intend to finish it off. Overall I really enjoy the game, but it certainly has its flaws. I don't like how both players look exactly the same except for being red or blue, it was very hard to tell us apart especially when there are many explosions and flashing pixels onscreen. Some of the levels and bosses were clunky and sloggish, but when the game is good, the game is GOOD. We intend on playing the Metal Slug games next as far as run'n'guns go and I'm extremely excited for that.

We also played some Tricky Towers, which was fun but overall not a very standout game. Good to kill time when chatting with a friend, but I don't think I'd want to play it singleplayer, especially when Apotris exists. Speaking of, I've been playing Apotris!! Fantastic game, I think it's the best version of Tetris I've ever touched (barring the original, of course). It's addictive, and the fact that it's so easily accessible on my Odin 2 makes it even *more* addictive. Can't recommend Apotris enough if you are a Tetris enjoyer, especially due to the nature of it being a GBA rom so it can go on literally any device ever lol.

I also played a few songs from DJMax Portable 2, which I am happy to report is 100% playable on my Odin with no noticeable input lag (at least for me). I did unfortunately run into a strange error with PPSSPP where the entire game started flickering and I had to quit. Not sure what caused it, but hopefully it doesn't happen again! It was on the 3rd or 4th song in a row so maybe I just need to take more breaks or something. The game feels great though and I love the aesthetic and song choices.

I also made some progress on Witch on the Holy Night! I didn't play for too long, I would guess I'm a little over an hour or so into the game but I am greatly enjoying it so far. It definitely seems to be slow and character focused which can be my jam when it's done right. I usually don't like stories set in a high school setting but so far it seems well realized and meaningful. It's my first step into the Nasu-verse and although I'm not committed to even finishing WotHN or continuing after it if I do finish it, I'm immensely happy to be trying it out and seeing if I like it :D

I defeated Garula in Final Fantasy 5 as well!! Which unlocked many more jobs, which is very exciting. I think I need to be changing up the jobs my characters use more often and just try to experiment with the game. That does seem to be the intended way to play and I think it will really brighten up the gameplay (which I do happen to like already, for the record). I just got back from a couple day break from the game and I'm super excited to be back and will hopefully be dipping my toes in more often and getting into the thick of it!

The final game I have to talk about today is Metroid: Zero Mission. I also took a few days break from this one, and I just got to the Mother Brain fight. So far, I am not a fan of the fight. I'm not the best at platformers and the amount of projectiles that knock you clean off the miniscule platforms given to you feels vicious as a player. So I have decided to attempt the fight only once each day (or more if I really want to) until I get it. I know I'm right at the end and I don't want to sour what's been an overall very fun experience with intense frustration. Excited to defeat it after taking my time!

Gonna have a very busy week/weekend, after today so I'm glad I got tonight to really get some games in. I will try to squeeze some in through the week as well but I fear my homework load may get in my way.
